Town Tour Continues
Friday, August 12, 2011 at 05:21PM It's a little crazy around here. My niece's wedding is tomorrow and since I live only five minutes from the farm I seem to be part of the circle of excitement. The weather forecast is calling for a near-perfect day, including a full moon rising over the mountains about the time the dancing begins.
As promised, I want to share the remainder of my flower tour of my hometown. These cannas in barrels remind me of the tropics.

I saw these chrysanthemums at the local veggie store. Oh, dear, says I, that's a sure sign of the end of summer. Given that it didn't really get started, weather-wise, until the end of July, seeing these flowers is not welcome just yet even if they are pretty.

The pink flowers here are verbenas, (I think), coupled with petunias. The little yellow ones that are probably ladies' slippers, except that they are so tiny they must be babies' slippers.

This is the hydrangea in front of my house, in all its purple gorgeousness.

My shasta daisies decided that their stems were tired so when it rained last week they all just lay down on the ground and didn't get back up. I think they look just as pretty as if they were standing.

According to the people at Pantone, the colour of the year is honeysuckle. While my own honeysuckle blossoms are a different colour, I think this geranium next to my front step comes close. (For more on the colour, see my post here.)

In other news, my new novel Picking up the Pieces, is already in high demand and I will be printing more soon. I picked up an order of teas for my store today and my favourite tea-man, Kim, bought the one copy of my novel that I had in the car.
If you are interested in getting on the notification list for the next printing of soft-covers when they come, please shoot me an email from my Contact page and I will let you know.
