Picking up the Pieces
Jill Moss is pulling her life back together after her husband’s death when she is shocked to receive a message that her uncle, famed archaeologist Neil Bryant, has made a Mayan archaeological discovery of such consequence that his life is in danger.
A ring of sixteen stones inscribed with three different ancient languages has caught the attention of several parties whose intentions are not honourable. To protect the artifacts, Neil has separated the pieces and sent them to his trusted colleagues around the world. He needs Jill to go and collect the pieces of the relic.
Learning of her pick-up locations one-by-one, Jill must rely on her wits and her ability to hear God to keep her safe and get her to each destination. In her race to collect the artifacts before they can be stolen she tears around Europe, the Caribbean, California, and the Middle-East in search of the stones.
Gradually, secrets of the stones are revealed as Jill meets each one of her contacts. Along the way she also meets a gorgeous, mysterious Spaniard who makes her wounded heart come to life again. The only problem is she is not sure whose side he is on.
Meeting with the world’s foremost authorities on ancient languages and cultures ignites Jill’s passion for the mission as she learns that the stones hold the key to age-old secrets that could change the course of world history. Jill discovers that she and her uncle are caught up in a much bigger plot to exploit the secrets of the stones than she ever dreamed.
“This should be made into a movie! Wendy Dewar Hughes forges an excellent, absorbing plot, delightfully written, that keeps you wondering how it can possibly be resolved. All through is a compelling, subtle message, an underlying, unseen agent/force that guides the main character toward her destiny in a mysterious, irresistible way.” Julene Hodges Schroeder
